<< Previous Question Question 53 Next Question >>

Question 53 from The Impossible Quiz Book is the third question of Chapter 2, and the third one themed after the Monochrome video game era. You're asked "How do you load a ZX Splapptrum?", with possible answers being LOAD " ", "With your fists", "With gusto" and "Botulism".

The ZX Splapptrum mentioned in this question is the in-game version of the real-life 8-bit home computer known by the name of ZX Spectrum, originally released in 1982 and discontinued in 1992. Games for this system came in cassettes, and you were required to connect a tape player to the computer in order to play said games.

Once connected and having placed the cassette in the player, you would require to go to the computer's screen and type "LOAD" followed by two quotation marks, and then hit the "Play" button of the cassette, and the game would be automatically booted in the computer.

In short, the correct answer is LOAD " ", which is what you must type in a ZX Spectrum/Splapptrum to load a game. It's important that you remember this, because the ZX Spectrum is the following video game era represented in this Chapter (starting with Question 61), but you NEED to type the quotation marks and press the "Play" button on the Cassette-o-matic 4000 after updating the Guide's firmware in order to proceed.

Trivia[]

EarlyQ53Book

Question 58 was originally located as the 53rd.

  • In an October 2009 deviantArt journal, Splapp posted a work-in-progress picture of this question. This picture reveals that the spot of Question 53 was originally going to be for what eventually became Question 58 ("How do you win an extra guy?"). It's also worth noting that several visual details hadn't yet been implemented, and Splapp had both Fusestoppers and one of the Skips unlocked for use, probably because at that time, the game was planned to have all chapters in one Flash file, but due to SWF file issues, the quizzes were made into separate files.
