Question 142 of the Impossible Quiz Book is the forty-second question of the Chapter, and the fifth one to have you revisiting a question from the first Impossible Quiz. By the looks of it, it seems that time is so corrupted at this point that the world is starting to fall apart, with the question screen beginning to sink into flowing lava! Even more bizarrely, traces of the Prehistoric era have begun to mix with the Impossible Quiz here, as can be seen by the two vines dangling out of the cracks.

What you're asked here is "What is the answer to life, the universe and everything?", which you were originally asked in Question 42 from the first Quiz. The wall made out of copies of the number 42 also makes a return, as does the little hint below the question that says "(Hint: it's 42)". However, due to the earthquake present in this question, some of the 42's have fallen off, slightly changing their count. To top it off, there's a 10-second bomb trying to put a definitive end to your quest, and the Fusestopper won't wake up, even in the middle of this chaos!

To continue, you must once again click the forty-second "42", which is actually located two spaces to the right from its original position; in other words, it's the fourth one of the bottom row. Unlike the original question, the "42" of the hint counts for the order, which is why the right one is the fourth one from the bottom row, rather than the fifth one.

Just like the original question, this one is referencing Douglas Adams' book "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy", where "42" was the answer given by supercomputer Deep Thought to the "Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe and Everything", though said answer isn't of much use since the beings who instructed it never actually knew what that question was.
Nofs Fusestoppers cannot be used.

Trivia

  • Douglas Adams's book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is also the book after which Chapter 2 of The Impossible Quiz Book ("The Phlovomite's Guide to the Galaxy") got its name.
  • Just like Question 130, After answering this question, The clock won't appear.
